Democrats to Fossil Fuel Industry: “I Can’t Quit You, Baby.”
In the late summer of 2018 the Democratic Party ended their 8-week moratorium on campaign donations from their BFF the Fossil Fuel cartel. Seems like just yesterday when they were trying to convince us all they’d seen the light. That’s because it practically was just yesterday.
So what’s their excuse?
Refusing money from the biggest corporate scumbags on earth just wouldn’t be fair to those working in the fossil fuel industry. Yep. They are trying to turn selling out the earth and everyone on it into a celebration of the Working Class.
So be grateful, peasants. The Dems are out there taking millions of dollars from the biggest oligarchs that ever oligarched to save YOUR ass. They don’t want to do it but feel a moral and ethical obligation to line their pockets with blood money. In the interest of fairness.
So that’s the best they could come up with, and it definitely raises a few questions.
How is trying to squelch Universal Healthcare “fair to” thousands of people dying of treatable illnesses just because they can’t afford office visits and prescriptions?
How is fighting like hell against a living wage, even a lousy $15 bucks an hour, “fair to” all of the people working two and three jobs to pay their rent?
How is supporting every opportunity to make war “fair to” the people we are bombing and killing daily, or the young men and women putting their lives on the line for nothing but your greed?
How is employing a primary system with pre-selected nominees that renders the voters’ input completely irrelevant “fair to” the American People?
I’ve tried to ask, many times, but all I get is accusations that I’m a Russian bot or a Trump supporter, which is the Democrat version of sticking your fingers in your ears and singing LALALALALALA over unpleasant truths.
Listen up Democrats — that’s why no-one outside of your right-wing neo-liberal bubble believes for a second that your super-duper progressive platform means jackshit. *cough* Beto *cough. You can say whatever you want, but your actions reveal your real intent. *cough* Beto *cough*
So watch for that fracked gas pipeline coming soon to a city, state park, and pristine rural forest near you. Because this is what it’s really about. Squeezing those last few drops of oil from our country’s ravaged, wrung-out landscape, no matter the cost to our environment, our citizens, or our children’s future.
The only people benefiting from the Democratic Party cavorting with the Fossil Fuel Industry are the oligarchs. Same as it ever was.
