“I could not in good conscience vote against impeachment because I believe President Trump is guilty of wrongdoing. I also could not in good conscience vote for impeachment because removal of a sitting president must not be the culmination of a partisan process, fueled by tribal animosities that have so gravely divided our country."
- Tulsi Gabbard
I’m sure you’ve all heard by now that Tulsi Gabbard dared to follow her conscience (and common sense) by declaring herself “present” at the emotionally-driven fuck-pile House Dems call impeachment proceedings.
Personally, my respect for Gabbard has never been higher, except for when she told the DNC to suck it after they stole the nomination from Bernie. What’s really amusing is that half the people who want her head on a plate for not sharing their short-sighted hysteria couldn’t kiss her ass hard enough in 2016.
Partisan politics are a hoot.
Guess you can only break from the pack when it has the seal of approval from the TDS contingent. And I hate to be the one to break it to you, but calling Tulsi (and pretty much anyone else) a Russian asset proves nothing except that you were dropped on your head as a child. Repeatedly.
And for those insinuating or outright insisting this is some unprecedented treasonous fuckery, perhaps you should go take a look at how many members of Congress (of both parties) have done the same with nary an explanation. This is hardly an aberration, save for the fact she actually explained her rationale to her constituents and the American people.
And you know what?
I really wish all you pearl-clutching hypocrites had been this incensed when all the Dems gave the Orange Anal Wart a standing O during the State of the Union Address. Or voted in his obscene defense budget. Or remained mum on Trump’s Machiavellian plans to slash ’n dash SNAP.
Why aren’t you waxing indignant over that? I suppose it springs from the same mindset that believes Russia has more influence over U.S. elections than Saudi Arabia or Israel, huh?
The GOP couldn't accomplish jackshit without the mealy-mouthed Dems aiding and abetting them at every turn. You’d think that this would be far more concerning than one congresswoman refusing to endorse either party’s dipshittery.
It’s cognitive dissonance of biblical proportions.
And in the interest of full disclosure, once Tulsi walked back on Medicare for All, I walked back on considering her as a suitable presidential candidate. All my fellow Americans finally getting decent healthcare is a non-negotiable point for me.
But that doesn’t mean I don’t admire her conviction regarding her decision to vote “present.” She knew the backlash she would get and the damage it would do to her campaign, but she did it anyway.
Be honest. When was the last time YOU made a stand like that? Have you ever made a stand like that?
I’d venture a guess that the majority of her naysayers haven’t. And that is why, dear Reader, I’d be willing to bet that if you are among them, Tulsi Gabbard has more balls than you, and you resent her for it.
